History of the Award

Since its founding in 1950, the Rotary Club Pavia has played a vital role in fostering youth development, especially in collaboration with the University of Pavia. The Rotary Club’s involvement with the student body grew alongside the expansion of the university and its colleges, which increased from just two colleges in the post-war period to fourteen today.

One of the Rotary Club’s most significant initiatives has been the Serata degli Studenti Stranieri (Evening for International Students), which began in the 1950s under the presidency of Aurelio Bernardi. This event celebrated the contributions and talents of international students studying at Pavia’s prestigious colleges. Over the years, the event has evolved and continues to be a cherished tradition, fostering relationships between international students and local institutions.

Building on this tradition, the Rotary Club Pavia launched the College’s International Students Award (CISA) as a way to formalise its commitment to supporting international students in Pavia. Through this award, students are encouraged to participate in collaborative projects that aim to benefit both the local and global community, while honing their leadership and teamwork skills.

Today, the CISA 2025 initiative stands as a testament to the Rotary Club’s enduring dedication to supporting student-driven projects that make a positive social impact, providing a platform for international students in Pavia to showcase their talents and creativity.
